Introducing the 2nd puzzle in our Artist & Artisan Series

If you enjoyed the first Artist & Artisan Series puzzle - Eyes Full Of Stars - then you're going to LOVE this one!

This gorgeous puzzle was first cut by hand by Mark on a scroll saw and then meticulously hand traced into our software to enable us to produce it in laser cut form - allowing you to enjoy a 'hand cut' puzzle from a master puzzle maker for a fraction of the price!

Here's a clip of the puzzle being cut by hand on youtube (opens in new window)

Sydney based Fiona Smith is the artist behind this stunning Flamingo - Fiona paints in oils from her home studio, but only when she is not being badgered by the magpies, kookaburras, butcher birds, lorikeets and the lone cockatoo who come by daily!

"It is not at all incongruous that my birds appear in interior settings. That's how it is, from time to time, at chez Smith. In my paintings, they are portrayed in domestic arrangements of beautiful objects against highly patterned backgrounds. The paintings are a pastiche of designs that I find interesting from times past and some of my current fascinations"

Both the artist and the artisan are supported by royalty payments from the sale of every puzzle in this series, so by purchasing an Artist & Artisan Series puzzle, you are supporting the arts - thank you!

Another Artisan series treasure

I've already got Nos 1 and 3 of the Artisan series. When they were both just out, I chose No 3 rather than this one as the image seemed more difficult. I think I was wrong - the flamingo itself and the tiled floor are fairly easy parts, but the rest has some very crafty cutting, and when solving without picture peeking, the repetition of colours and shapes in different areas, and the absence of consistent shapes like No 3's bottle tops, plus some crafty line cutting, make this a serious challenge. Based on one attempt at each one, 1 and 2 are just ahead of 3 for me. Part of my idea for my own jigsaw collection is variety of puzzles, so I'll be waiting a while before buying another Artisan, and picking one that looks nice and tough, with the toughness accompanied by entertainment. Mark Cappitella doesn't do many whimsies, but the ones in this puzzle are seriously clever, including the positioning in some cases - like the prawn (with antennae on a neighbouring piece) which the flamingo has in its bill. There's at least one other with positioning as part of the cleverness, but I'll leave you some things to discover.

Another fine effort...

The cut makes this puzzle and I'm not sure there is anybody cutting them right now better than Mark Capitella. Feels like you are doing a puzzle with a much higher piece count. Exceptional value. Would recommend to anyone playing the wooden puzzle game.

Great puzzle

This is the next best thing to a handcut wooden puzzle, beautiful quality and the cut around rather than through shapes makes it an extra challenge. Have ordered the next in the Artisan series.

Lost Flamingo

This is my first Victory puzzle and certainly not my last. I enjoyed putting this one together. The quality is top notch and the image is fantastic. This puzzle was worth every penny.
