All of our puzzles are made from chunky 5mm Linden (commonly known as Lime or Basswood) - a versatile wood that is also used to manufacture many items from inexpensive pencils to very expensive musical instruments. Our wood is FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) compliant, coming from a sustainable source.

From early last century, Victory designed puzzles that included shaped pieces designed to look like objects that complimented the art of the puzzle. The individual craftsmen added these pieces 'on a whim' as they were cutting individual puzzles. These whimsical, or 'whimsy' pieces as they became known, brought delight to the puzzle enthusiasts of the day.

We love this smell! - but it will dissiapte over time. It is caused because we use laser beams to cut our puzzles and this process vaporises a very fine cut line which creates this scent.

Unfortunately we cannot cut individual replacement pieces.

When we re-established Victory in 2022 we started producing puzzles in England from 3mm MDF. Then, within a month of our relaunch, the largest wooden jigsaw company in the UK announced that it was increasing the thickness of its MDF puzzles from 3mm to 4mm. 

Not satisfied to sit still and feeling the necessity (for survival) to up our game, we searched high and low for a suitable supplier of 4mm MDF but couldn't find a reliable, cost effective source. All of the quotes submitted would force us to increase our retail prices significantly - probably to a point that we would not be able to attract new customers and risk losing existing customers.

Then, serendipitously (as with much of our journey) we came across a small, family run manufacturing company that specialises in printing and laser cutting wooden products in China.

After much interrogation - checking their credentials around manufacturing standards, labour standards and FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) compliance and with lots of back and forth and several rounds of samples later, we found a product that was not only far superior to our 3mm MDF, but also we believe, far superior to 4mm MDF - and at a similar cost to our current product.

So faced with the choice of either staying with the status quo (3mm MDF), raising prices significantly (4mm MDF) or outsourcing our printing and laser cutting for a superior, similar cost product - giving us the opportunity to offer customers an exceptional value for money puzzle, we have opted for the latter. 

So, all of our puzzles are now made using 5mm Linden plywood - a wood that is also used to manufacture  musical instruments.

We encourage you to try one of our puzzles; the 5mm thickness, the quality of the wood, the quality of our whimsies and the quality of the printing and laser cutting, in our opinion, combine to offer the best value for money wooden puzzle available today.

Unfortunately, we cannot apply discount codes retrospectively, and we cannot apply current or future offers to  previous purchases.

Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email letting you know that our fulfillment team has received your order. Once your order is fulfilled, you will receive an email notification with your tracking information. Shipping fees are non-refundable in the case of returns.
